Two-day Hybrid Seminar on Resilient Sustainable & Smart Cities
The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa) in collaboration with the Wilaya of Agadir, The Region of Sousss Massa, the Regional Directorate of the Environment of Souss Massa, Agadir Municipality and Ibn Zohr University in the kingdom of Morocco are organizing :
“Two-day Hybrid Seminar on Resilient Sustainable & Smart Cities”
This seminar will be held face-to-face and via videoconferencing, in Agadir, kingdom of Morocco, as part of the celebration of Agadir as the Islamic World Environmental Capital for 2020-2021 and the celebration of World Environment Day 2021, that Pakistan will host this year, under the slogan “Ecosystem Restoration.”
The Main Objective of the Seminar is Promoting and giving visibility to the good practices of Green Resilient and Smart Cities through solid and sustainable partnerships.
It specifically targets:
• To enhance the development of Cities in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
• To exhort Cities actively making changes to become more environment-friendly while preserving the national heritage;
• To foster cities to actively raise citizens environmental awareness and involvement;
• To incentivize other cities to start the transformation and progress towards sustainability.
• Economic recovery in cities and urban resilience building in the time of crises l(e.g. COVID-19).
