Zimbabwe is set out to participate in the Voluntary Subnational Reviews Session at the “Advancing the local implementation of the SDGs High Level Political Forum” on the 15th of July 2021 following the call by the UN and the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) for localizing the Sustainable Development Goals as a review mechanism set by the 2030 Agenda.
The Voluntary Subnational Review reports are led by local and regional government associations as an approach to monitor and report on SDGs at a local rather than national level as previously done by the Voluntary National Reviews and they give the international community a wider viewpoint on the advance towards SDGs at a local level.
The forum which is to run online from the 14th to the 16th of July will include the participation of eight countries for the VSR session on the second day and Zimbabwe will be among the eight countries to participate together with Cape Verde, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, Norway, Sweden, Tunisia. The President of ZILGA, Alderman David Guy Mutasa will be the presenter with the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Honorable July Moyo as the respondent.
