All roads lead to Victoria Falls for a charity golf tournament which the Urban Councils Association of Zimbabwe (UCAZ) are hosting on 11 December 2020 in support of the Chambuta National Children’s Rehabilitation and Skills Development Centre which is situated in Chiredzi, Masvingo Province. The tournament is taking place at the Elephant Hills Hotel’s golf course.
The Chambuta National Children’s Rehabilitation and Skills Development Centre is an initiative of the Angels of Hope Foundation whose Patron is the First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa. Urban local authorities, under UCAZ, heeded the call by the First Lady to support the Angels of Hope Foundation by turning the former refugee facility into a national centre for disadvantaged children. The children, who were living and working on the streets of various towns and cities in the country were taken to Chambuta where they are being given an opportunity to lead decent lives and contribute to society and the economy as responsible citizens. The centre will capacitate the children with formal education as well as provide vocational training in various trades such as carpentry, motor mechanics, brick laying and more.
More than 20 teams are expected to participate in the charity golf tournament whose proceeds will be channeled towards the the national children’s centre. The tournament comes at an opportune time, towards the festive season as corporates will put smiles on the children’s faces with food donations which will enable the children to celebrate Christmas like everyone else.
UCAZ has invited the First Lady Amai Mnangagwa to officiate at the event as the Guest of Honour.
