LOGIC 2019 to be held same week as annual conference and general meeting

August 7, 2019 Chris Musekiwa

The Local Government Investment Conference (LOGIC 2019) will be held from 7 to 9 while the Annual Conference and General Meeting will follow on 10 and 11 October 2019 at the Harare International Conference Centre.

UCAZ initiated LOGIC in 2016 as a platform to interact with local and international potential investors, relevant government ministries and departments, development partners, local authorities and local government associations in the region and abroad.

LOGIC, which has become an international event is expected to attract about 500 participants. The LOGIC is organised in three parts over three days.

There is the conference where invited speakers make presentations. Starting at the same time as the conference is the expo where local authorities and local and international organisations exhibit their products and services. On the evening of the last day there is an awards ceremony where the best performing local authorities in different service delivery categories are presented with awards.

Several local authorities have reportedly met investors who have invested in projects such as housing and manufacturing.

The Annual Conference is a platform where UCAZ interacts with selected government ministers, heads of other government departments and regulatory authorities. The State President, His Excellency Emmerson D. Mnangagwa is expected to be the Guest of Honour. The Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Hon. July Moyo, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Prof. Mthuli Ncube, are expected to attend. The annual conference will be held over one day. Devolution will be central to the discussions.

On the last day will be the General meeting. This a domestic session where UCAZ members’ represented by Mayors, and councillors as delegates and town clerks and some councillors as observers mainly receive the audited accounts of the Association, appoint auditors and deliberate on other issues on the agenda.
